Burscough Village Primary School will receive a £150,000 grant from the Department for Education (DfE) to establish a new school-based nursery for 2-year-olds. This funding will allow the school to expand its existing nursery provision, offering early education to more children in the local community.
The grant is part of the DfE's initiative to support the creation of school-based nurseries across England, aimed at enhancing early education and childcare accessibility. The programme has today approved 300 new school-based nurseries in its first round of funding, delivering on the government's manifesto pledge to boost early education. Burscough Village Primary School is one of only 10 schools in Lancashire to receive the grant.
Mrs. Anna Yates, Headteacher of Burscough Village Primary School, stated, “We are delighted to receive this grant from the Department for Education. Our long-term objective has been to enhance our nursery provision to better serve the needs of our school community. Building strong relationships with families is crucial.
