Step into Quality in the Early Years & KS1

BVPS is extremely proud to have had our Step Into Quality award rewarded for our EYFS (Nursery and Reception) in 2022. As a school, we see the quality and improvement the program offers the school and the teaching team and we therefore decided to work towards the award in KS1. Following an 18-month process, we were delighted to be awarded 'Step into Quality' for Year 1 and Year 2 in November 2023.

 

 

The Award

‘Step into Quality’ involves everyone within the team and is focused on reflection of the provision and practice within the class. The award has proven that this systematic approach of self-evaluation, allows the principles of the EYFS to become embedded in practice, leading to improvements of the children's outcomes.

The program covers a number of ‘steps’. Including:

  • Indoor and outdoor learning environments
  • Routines
  • Interactions
  • The key person approach
  • Partnership with parents
  • Leadership and management
  • Learning and development
  • Transitions
